Rathnapala's wife got caught in fire, her face was severely burnt. Doctor's said that they have to transplant skin from someone else. Rathnapala volunteered to donate his skin, unfortunately they could only use his skin from his bum (thattame hama) since he had so many in other body parts. After removing his skin, he was in in pain so much for weeks meantime his wife recovered so well. Oneday, Rathnapala's wife was so emotional and said "oh my love Rathne, you sacrificed so much for me, how can I ever repay my gratitude for that?"
Rathnapala says "it is ok my love, everytime when your mother kiss on your face, I get more than enough thank from it".
