The Tobacco and Alcohol Act effective next month |
Nov 16 (GDI) The Tobacco and Alcohol Act will come into effect from 1st of December. It is a cabinet approved Act presented by the Minister of Health and Nutrition Nimal Siripala de Silva. A gazette notification on the Act will be issued on December 1, 2006 and it will come into force on same day. Producing and distributing of alcohol in places without approval will also be prohibited under this Act.

Nov 17 (LBO) Sri Lanka is expecting a 9.1 percent budget deficit in 2007, with the revised budget deficit for 2006 being estimated at 8.7 percent of GDP.
