Aug 27 (CT) UNP MP Palitha Thewarapperuma, who was released on bail just days ago, has been remanded once again. Kalutara additional magistrate Namal Perera has sent him into remand custody until September 01 since prison officials reported that he had a mobile phone in his possession while in jail. He was given bail three days ago after spending nearly eight months in prison over a charge of possession of illegal firearms and assault in January this year.

Fuel transport by train will reduce cost |

Southern Highway: Two phases to be vested next year |

Court Martial refuses to acquit SF |
Aug 27 (DM) The General Court Martial Tribunal trying former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka on the alleged contravention of military procurement procedure yesterday refused to acquit Fonseka without calling the defence case.
