Dengue strikes back this year |
Dec 18 (Island) Public Health Department of the Colombo Municipal Council said that a majority suspected dengue cases in the city were children. Dr. Ruwan Wijayamuny said that over 2,980 suspect dengue cases had been reported in the city from the beginning of the year to Dec 15. Out of them 764 cases were below the age of five years. About 1203 cases were between six and 20 years of age. Last year, too, over 20 per cent of dengue cases had been below the age of 20, he said.
