Sri Lanka foreign reserves estimated at US$ 7.3 billion by end Dec: CB
Jan 28 (LBO) Sri Lanka’s gross official reserves were estimated at US$ 7.3 billion by end December 2015. The figure remained unchanged from end November equivalent to 4.6 months of imports, while total foreign assets amounted to US$ 9.1 billion, equivalent to 5.7 months of imports. During the year to November, the overall BOP is estimated to have recorded a deficit of US$ 1,274.2 million, compared to a surplus of US$ 1,628.3 million during the corresponding period of 2014.

Electricity demand in Sri Lanka to see an increase this year
Jan 28 (CG) The demand for electricity is to see an increase this year, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) said. The electricity generation has been estimated for the year 2015 as 12901 GWh and it is expected to increase to 13451G within 2016. PUCSL, the electricity sector regulator, is planning to adopt an internationally accepted tool to review the forecasted electricity demand in Sri Lanka and to access the Long Term Generation Expansion Plan (2015-2032) by the CEB.
