Galle to Hambantotta
Jul 1 (CT) Govt of SL's decision to shift the Sri Lanka Navy’s Southern Command, currently stationed in Galle, to the Hambantota Port, is likely to neutralize its political detractors who harp on its recent long lease to the Chinese for US$ 1.1 billion to get over a debt crisis brought about by the previous Rajapaksa regime, as a sellout of the country’s sovereignty. This is on the assumption that the Chinese who currently operate the Port on a 99-year lease, have agreed to this arrangement.
