May 26 (DM) Responding to reports that 36 Sri Lankan workers were stranded at Bucharest Airport in Romania, the Sri Lankan envoy to Romania said the situation had arisen as most of the employees had refused to go back to their workplace. Fast bowler Shehan Madushanka remanded for possessing heroin

May 26 (DM) Fast bowler Shehan Madushanka and another were remanded till June 2 by the Kuliyapitiya Acting Magistrate on the charges of possessing heroin. Worker remittances plunge over 32% in April; cumulative decline at 9%

May 26 (AD) A total of 157 Sri Lankans who returned from overseas have tested positive for COVID-19 so far, says the Commander of Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva. Study reveals marked decline in noise levels in Indian Ocean region during lockdown

SL coconut auction prices hit two year high

May 26 (EN) SL’s average coconut prices grew 8.2% to 50,970 rupees for a 1000 nuts at an auction on May 21, from 47,098 rupees a week earlier, a two year high, with taxes on imported vegetable oils hiked with import controls.
