IMF bailout not a silver bullet for Sri Lanka, says Moody's Analytics
Mar 22 (Reuters) Sri Lanka has a difficult road ahead irrespective of how much funding it receives from multilateral and global financial agencies, a senior economist at Moody's Analytics told Reuters on Tuesday. Moody’s Analytics is independent of Moody's Investors Service, the rating agency. Uma Oya to be vested with the public soon

Sri Lanka says unique IMF loan design will lower market rates
Mar 22 (BN) Sri Lanka’s bailout by the IMF will help the bankrupt nation lower its borrowing costs, thanks in part to a change in how the cash can be used, central bank Governor Nandalal Weerasinghe said. IMF for the first time will allow Sri Lanka to use funds from the $3 billion bailout to cover govt spending, Weerasinghe said. Grade five scholarship school cutoff marks released
Mar 22 (DM) Based on the results of the 2022 grade five scholarship exam, education ministry today issued cutoff marks for students to enroll in grade six. Accordingly, the cut-off marks for the Sinhala and Tamil mediums have been released. For boys schools, Royal College of Colombo requires 182 marks as the cutoff for enrolling in grade six. Dharmaraja College and Kingswood College in Kandy need 180 and 177 points, respectively, to enroll in grade six.

48 Sri Lankan domestic workers stranded in Kuwait return home
Mar 22 (TM) A group of 48 Sri Lankan domestic workers who had gone to Kuwait for employment and were unable to return to Sri Lanka for a long time after facing severe problems, arrived in the country this morning from BIA. Although 51 Sri Lankans were brought to Kuwait airport to be sent to Sri Lanka, three of them have not been able to come to Sri Lanka due to deficiencies in their documents. Man cuts off electrician’s hands, flees with it
Mar 22 (DM) The hands of an electrician was cut off after he got into an altercation with an individual in Moratuwa yesterday and the suspect had then fled with the severed hands, police said. Police said the hands of the victim had been severed at the elbow and taken away over a previous animosity between two parties. The victim is a resident of Koralawella in Moratuwa and an electrician by profession. Residents of the area who rushed to the scene had rushed the victim to Panadura base hospital.
