CB inks 5% inflation deal with govt

Oct 5 (EN) Central Bank has signed an agreement with the govt to maintain inflation at 5% with a 2% variation, Central Bank Governor Nandalal Weerasinghe said. “Inflation target is 5%, plus or minus 2%,” Govrnor Weerasinghe told reporters. “Variation would be assessed on the basis of quarterly average of two quarters. “If there is a deviation it will trigger other actions.” The agreement will be published soon by the Finance Ministry, Governor Weerasinghe said. more..
