President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga has advised North Central Province Chief Minister, Provincial Ministers and officials to give priority to projects which would benefit the majority of the people.
The president gave this advice when development plans of the North Central Provincial Council was reviewed on Wednesday at a meeting held at the Presidential House. Plans of Western, North Western, Southern and Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council Development plans were reviewed at the earlier meetings.
The Provincial Council officials pointed out due to the pruning of funds on a large scale, even essential development work could not be attended to.
The meeting was attended by North Central Province, Governor, D. M. C. Samaraweera, Chief Minister, Berty Premalal Dissanayake, MP Tissa Karalliyadda, Provincial Ministers, Secretary of the Council and several officials and Presidential Adviser, Cyril Gunapala and the Additional Secretary, W. Ariyawansa.
