May 7 (InfoLanka) Parallel to various programmes conducted by one hundred and eighty countries commemorating the international Red Cross Day, Red Cross Society of Sri Lanka has taken steps to launch various programmes symbolizing peace throughout the country including the North an East from May 8 to 31.
Programmes include health clinics for women and elders, ayurvedic clinics, mobile blood donation campaigns and awareness programmes to prevent road accidents,. Steps would also be taken by District Red Cross Societies to implement these programmes on a district basis, Sri Lanka Red Cross Society's Vice Chairman, Sanath Dasanayake said.
