Aug 28 (InfoLanka) The C.I.D. informed the Colombo magistrate today that they have received information regarding the involvement of one Nihal Wickremasinghe alias Navala Nihal in the plot to assassinate ministers Rajitha Senaratne and Ravi Karunanayake.
The police said that they obtained this information during the course of questioning several people allegedly involved in the plot. The C.I.D. also made a request to produce Nawala Nihal who is currently in remand in court. The magistrate directed the C.I.D. to find out and inform court the offence for which Nawala Nihal had been remanded. Counsel for the suspect said that the investigators were trying to make up a case against his client. The magistrate directed the C.I.D. today to submit a report on the progress of investigations on the 14th of next month.
The C.I.D. has launched investigations on information supplied by a remand prisoner to the effect that there is a conspiracy to murder the two ministers.
