Six prospective bidders from Denmark are in Sri Lanka on a pre-bidding study on the proposed Oluvil Port.
Minister of Ports and Shipping Rauff Hakeem had directed the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) to commence the construction work of the Oluvil Port before the end of this year and the visit of Danish parties was following an invitation by SLPA.
Danish government through its Denmark International Development Agency (Danida) has granted a loan amounting to Rs. 3.3 billion (Euro 30 Million) under the mixed credit facilities scheme to complete the first stage of the Oluvil Port project.
The SLPA on July 15 called world -wide tenders to complete the project and as result the six firms opted to visit the project site.
