Aug 29 (InfoLanka) The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna along with the Sri Lanka Freedom Party announced today evening that the time has come for the United National Front government to pack its bags and leave.
The SLFPs Anura Bandaranaike also announced that his party along with the JVP would topple the UNF government within the next six months.
The announcement came amidst the cheering of hundred of thousands of JVP supporters who flocked to Colombo’s Lipton Circus after a four day tiresome walk from Galle, South of Sri Lanka.
JVP Propaganda Secretary Wimal Weerawansa addressing his supporters alleged that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinge was making decisions to the fancies of foreign powers, which would lead to the destruction of the country. He however added that with the support of the masses the UNF government’s ploys could be easily defeated.
Meanwhile despite the announcement that the SLFP and JVP will form an alliance soon, a meeting held yesterday (Wednesday) night at the President’s house over the formation of the alliance ended in a deadlock.
