Sri Lanka's film festival begins

The Film Week for the 28th Sarasaviya Film Awards Festival commenced today.
Seven films directed and produced locally will be screened at the Regal Cinema, Colombo from today till September 04, 2003. The films are; Director/Actor Ranjan Ramanayake's "Parliament Jokes", Daya Wimalaweera's "Seethala Gini Kandu", Dr. Sunil Ariyaratne's "Sudu Sevaneli", Somaratne Dissanayake's "Punchi Suranganavi", Linton Semage's "Mage Wam Atha", Wasantha Obeysekara's "Salelu Warama", Jayantha Chandrasiri's "Agni Dhahaya".
All these films have been nominated for the "Best Film Award" at the Sarasaviya Film Festival, to be held on September 5. The screenings will take place at 10.30 a.m., 2.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. every day. The cast, crew and directors of the day's film with other guests and distinguished local artistes, will attend the evening show.
