Feb 6 (IL) Information on a broad programme of forcibly recruiting innocent Tamil youths in estates , to the LTTE , has been uncovered . Details of this programme came to light after two of the three youths who were deceived and taken away from Nuwara-Eliya to the north managed to escape .
These three youths had been taken to Murungan in Mannar . Two of them managed to escape, while they were being taken to the LTTE controlled area . They had surrendered to the Murungan police .
Shanmuga Shivanandan and Velayuthan Wijayakanthan of high-frost estate had been lucky to flee while 28 year old Shankar Kumar had been abducted by LTTE cadres . The police had been told that they had been taken to Mannar , indicating that they would be taken on a tour of the north . Police are conducting investigations.
