'CHILD AID 2005' to COMMENCE: SRI LANKAN TSUNAMI FOSTER PARENTS SCHEME

AustraLanka Helpline today announced the release of tickets for 'Child Aid 2005' , a special concert showcasing top Australian talent designed to raise funds for a foster parents scheme to help children that have lost everything from the Tsunami in Sri Lanka.

The concert will take place on Thursday March 24 2005 in The Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House, with proceeds raised going to this exciting and ambitious project to aid Sri Lankan tsunami victims. An inspiring line-up of some of Australia's biggest and most exciting pop and rock artists, including Anthony Calea, Vanessa Amorosi, Christine Anu and Kamahl will perform. Internationally renowned artists will be flown in from Tsunami ravaged regions. Leading radio personality Alan Jones (Radio 2GB) will MC the event. The AustraLanka HelpLine is an organisation established to specifically help thousands of children in Sri Lanka that have lost both or either of their parents. Funds raised from 'Child Aid 2005' will be directly channelled into the setting up of a foster parents scheme and related projects to provide a better future for these children.

"Initially we have identified 250 children that are in urgent need of assistance. $300 is all that's needed to sponsor one of these children for 2 years. Anyone who buy's two VIP tickets for $300 will have all these funds going to foster a child for this period. Five Hundred seats have been allocated for this at the show" Said Dr Lakshman Jayaweera a director of AustraLanka HelpLine.

In a show of its support for the project, management of Sydney Opera House has donated the Opera House facilities at no cost, Radio 2GB has agreed to be a media sponsor of the event and Sri Lankan Airlines has agreed to provide International & domestic travel facilities respectively.
