Rest and relax on the golden beaches at Nilaveli Beach Hotel
The port town of Trincomalee, or Trinco as it is more affectionately known, stands on a finger of land jutting out into the Indian Ocean. This headland protects one of the worlds largest natural harbours, encompassing 53 Kilometres (33 miles) of shoreline, and many small bays within the main bay. Admiral Nelson called it the "finest harbour in the world" although, after Colombo, it is now the second most important port. The clock tower, bus stand and fish market are all close to one another on the Fort Fredrick side of town, and a short walk down Dock Yard road will bring you to Stephens Cemetery. Just out of Trincomalee on the Anuradhapura road are the famous Kenniyai Hot Springs. Hindus who come perform certain ceremonies for the dead revere the seven wells here. Nilavlei Beach Hotel has been able to maintain much of its past glory, glamour and above all the hospitality for which it is well known for, once inside the hotel, it is hard to find the quietness, the peaceful atmosphere and the friendly staff in many other resorts in Sri Lanka. |
