Ingredients:-500g lean ground beef
2 cloves garlic minced
1 large onion finely chopped
1 can whole tomatoes
3 tablespoons tomato paste
1/2 cup beef stock
or
1 beef soup cube dissoved in 1/2 cup boiling water
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
2 tablespoons margarine
Dash of ground black pepper
Grated parmesan cheese
In a large saucepan or Dutch oven, melt margarine and
add garlic and onion. Sauté until onion is transparent.
Add ground beef and fry until beef is no more pink.
Add whole tomatoes and tomato paste and mix well making
sure the whole tomatoes are well crushed. Then add the
remaining ingredients except parmesan cheese.
Simmer uncovered 45 to 60 minutes stirring occationally. Spoon
over hot cooked spagetti and garnish with parmesan cheese.
Makes about 4-6 servings.
This meat sauce can be cooked ahead and kept refregerated
up to two weeks.
