Feb 8 (LNP) The Sea Tigers are believed to have successfully withdrawn following the recent attack on the merchant vessel `City of Liverpool` after deceiving the military into believing that they had taken several persons hostage. Feb 8 (CO) Two fishermen were arrested near Dhanushkodi when they were trying to ferry Sri Lankan refugees back to Talaimannar. Compensation and resettlement of IDPs soon |
Feb 9 (AT) Resettlement of the estimated 75,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) of Vaharai has been speeded up by M.S.S. Ameer Ali, Minister of Disaster Relief Services, after the recent visit of President Mahinda Rajapakse. Ameer Ali told the Asian Tribune that the plans are to resettle in first phase 13,000 IDPs from Vaharai and 30,000 from Mutur and Sampur.
