UN turns down LTTE ceasefire plea

Aug 9 (LNP) The United Nations has turned down the LTTE request for the declaration of an immediate ceasefire, Government Defence spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella said yesterday. The LTTE had made the request to the UN on Thursday (7) and the UN had informed the Government of Sri Lanka about the request.
