Madhu statue brought to Bishop's house due to 'Heavy Fighting' |
July 26 (UCAN) The revered statue of Our Lady of Madhu has been brought to the Mannar bishop's house from a war-torn area in Tamil rebel's control, due to worries about its safety. Diocesan priests brought the statue in an ambulance to the bishop's house in Mannar, 230 kilometers north of Colombo, on July 22. Bishop Rayappu Joseph said he moved the statue from Thevanpiddi due to recent heavy fighting in that area between government forces and the LTTE.

New phone laws to protect consumers’ rights - PM |

Fighting kills 70 combatants |
