Mar 4 (DN) A significant number of Sri Lankans become permanently blind due to preventable causes. A lot of people become blind due to glaucoma caused by diabetics. Another preventable condition is permanent blindness caused by neglected eye problems naturally arising after the age of 40. UNHCR commends govt after boat people rescue

Mar 4 (UNHCR) UNHCR is deeply concerned about the plight of 71 boat people who were rescued by the Sri Lankan Navy yesterday, after they were found adrift in high seas off the island's northern district of Mullaitivu. The boat, carrying 50 Myanmar nationals and 21 Bangladesh nationals, had engine failure and been adrift since 20 February. Mar 5 (BBC) Large number of people reported missing have come back to their homes, says the One Man Presidential Commission that looks into the disappearances and abduction of persons.
