Feb 24 (GDI) The Indigenous Medicine Ministry has decided to expand its herb villages program to make the country self-sufficient in medicinal herbs, Minister of Indigenous Medicine Tissa Karalliyadda said. He pointed out that in herb villages in 18 districts nearly 300 perennial and seasonal herbal plants are being cultivated. 20 bus depots to be upgraded

Feb 24 (GDI) The Government will upgrade twenty bus depots across the country this year under its model depot concept to provide the best and effective transport service to commuters, the Transport Ministry sources said. A model depot will be responsible for covering their expenditure for fuel, repairs and maintenances through the income earned from the bus fares. Galgamuwa drinking water scheme to benefit 650 families

Feb 24 (GDI) A drinking water supply scheme is being constructed at a cost of Rs. 16 million in the Galgamuwa area under the community water supply scheme, Urban Development Minister Dinesh Gunawardane said. Feb 25 (Reuters) Rupee closed flat at its all-time low on Tuesday on dollar demand by state banks to cover import bills, while shares edged down on select bluechips due to earning woes. The rupee closed unchanged at 114.55/114.65, with state banks buying dollars to cover oil import bills.
