Oct 12 (LBO) Tourist arrivals into Sri Lanka in September 2009 rose 28.6 percent to 37,983 from a year ago, with strong growth from key European, East Asian and south Asian markets, the Tourism Authority said. It was the fourth straight monthly rise in visitors since May, when a 30-year war ended, compared with last year. Muslim village in Ampara under threat again |

Construction of 240 m new bridge across Malwatu Oya expedited |
Oct 13 (MoD) Under the "Uthuru Wasanthaya" development drive, construction work on the 240 m long new bridge across Malwatu Oya on the B-403 Arippu Marichchikadai-Mannar Highway has been accelerated. The estimated cost of the project is Rs.400 million. The bridge is 240 meters long and 7.35 meters wide.
