India unable to curb poaching: Sri Lanka |
Aug 19 (Hindu) India should host the Joint Working Group meeting on the fishermen’s issue without any further delay, Sri Lanka’s Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Minister Rajitha Senaratne has said. The Joint Working Group – set up to address the fisheries issue that affected fishermen of India and Sri Lanka – agreed to meet once in six months, with representatives from both countries. The group last met in January 2012 in Colombo and it is now India’s turn to host the meeting.

Bank credit to state spikes in June |
Aug 19 (LBO) Credit to the state spiked in June 2013 to 36.7 billion rupees, up from only 5.7 billion in May, crowding out loans to private citizens to 11.5 billion rupees from 18.3 billion a month earlier. Credit to the central govt rose to 1,259.1 billion rupees in June, up 24.6% from a year earlier, picking up pace from 19.3% in May. Love triangle leads to death of two |
Aug 19 (CT) A dispute over a love triangle led to the loss of two lives while another person was wounded when an Air Force Corporal killed an airman and an airwoman before he turned the gun on him, at an Air Force-run resort on the picturesque Marble Beach in Trincomalee, police sources said. Jumbo not hurt in park shooting |
