SriLankan pilot-selection review remains grounded

Mar 31 (ST) SriLankan Airlines is reviewing its entire trainee pilots’ selection process as a consequence of an ongoing dispute between its pilots and senior management. “There has been no final decision on the recruitment process,” said SriLankan Airlines CEO Kapila Chandrasena. “The short listing process for the cadet pilots’ training programme is being reviewed as a whole.” “We may not change it at all,” he stressed. more..

Tamil film industry unites for Sri Lankan Tamils

Mar 31 (IANS) For a second time within two weeks, the Tamil film industry will join hands to observe a day-long fast Tuesday against the reported genocide of Tamils in Sri Lanka. The first fast was observed March 19 here. While the Tamil Nadu Film Directors Association (TANTIS) and Film Employees' Federation of South India (FEFSI) spearheaded the earlier fast, the "Nadigar Sangam", also known as South Indian Film Artistes' Association (SIFAA), will fast in support of Sri Lankan Tamils April 2. more..

Mar 31 (Hindu) There have been many attempts by the DMK to tap into the peoples outrage to the alleged genocide of ethnic Tamils during the civil war in Sri Lanka. A Channel Four documentary, Sri Lanka’s Killing Fields, reported that rampant war crimes including mass killings in refugee camps occurred in the aftermath of the war.
