National Anthem and national cohesion |
Mar 8 (CT) There appears to be a difference of opinion on whether the National Anthem should be sung in Sinhala and Tamil, both being official languages. At present, it is already being sung in Tamil in schools and at official functions in the predominantly Tamil estate areas. That is in fact a pleasant contrast to the myopic opposition to the National Anthem in the NPC, where Chairman of the Council and Education Minister, have refused to hoist National Flag in public functions.
