Maithripala Sirisena holds the trumps

Apr 26 (NS) The 100 days are done. Much of the key elements of the program part of it remain undone. This should not worry President Maithripala Sirisena. Dudes and Dons of cricket

Apr 26 (ST) Through the travails of life down the order in the annals of our little nation, we have had many kings with strong-character — like Walagamba and Gemunu — and weaker characters in the calibre of Yasalalakatissa and Don Juan Dharmapala. Of course still their names are discussed in various situations and for different reasons. May be those are some of the highs and lows in our history. more..

Govt crosses the thin red line

Apr 26 (Island) President Maithripala Sirisena addressed the nation last Thursday to mark the conclusion of the new govt’s 100 day programme. At the end of it, many people were left wondering why he addressed the nation all. In contrast to Sirisena’s confused meanderings, the interview that PM Ranil Wickremesinghe had on ITN with Upul Shantha Sannasgala on the same day certainly sounded more like an address to the nation than Sirisena’s speech even though Sannasgala’s full tosses more..

Adopting Pakistan’s policies

Apr 26 (Island) Pakistan cricket, it seems, has hit rock bottom. Earlier this week, they suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat against minnows Bangladesh.
