Post-conflict Economic Boom: Looking beyond the headline statistics

Aug 12 (ST) During the five years following the end of the civil war in 2009, the Sri Lankan economy grew at an average annual rate of 7.4%. This was by far the highest average growth rate for any consecutive five-year period in the country’s post-indepenent history. Per capita income increased from US$ 2031 in 2009 to $3,536 in 2014.
