Attempt by 12-yr-old girl to elope after school thwarted |
May 20 (DM) A 12-year-old schoolgirl, who attempted to elope with her boyfriend after changing out of her school uniform in a toilet in the Kuliyapitiya Town, was taken into custody. Two security officers at the Kuliyapitiya bus stand had grown suspicious after seeing the girl loitering near the public toilet and had kept an eye till she come out. After noticing that the girl had changed out of her school uniform into coloured clothing, they had detained her and informed the police about their suspicions.

SL’s tourism industry is flourishing: Survey |
May 20 (FT) The latest islandwide poll conducted by research firm Kantar TNS, reveals that nearly 90% of respondents believe that Sri Lanka’s tourism industry is booming. Qatar Airways flight makes emergency landing in Sri Lanka after fire |
May 20 (Xinhua) A passenger plane with over 200 passengers on board made an emergency landing at BIA late Friday evening. Sri Lanka's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said the Qatar Airways flight made the emergency landing after reporting a fire on board. Qatar Airways flight Dreamliner was flying between Thailand and Doha when it made the emergency landing at BIA.
