Media Minister dismisses speculation on moves to sell SLRC

Social Security Levy to be added to all utility services
Oct 31 (TM) Ministry of Finance admits that the new 2.5% Social Security Contribution Levy will apply to all State-owned utility service providers and is likely to in turn be passed on to the consumer. X-rays, CT scans halted at National Hospital
Oct 31 (CT) All Ceylon Nurses’ Union (ACNU) said, the Accident Ward of the National Hospital of Sri Lanka is facing difficulties in performing X-rays and computed tomography (CT) scans due to machine malfunctions. CCPI based inflation drops to 66% in October
Oct 31 (AD) The overall rate of inflation as measured by the Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI) on Year-on-Year basis has decreased to 66% in Oct 2022 from 69.8% in Sept 2022, according to the DCS. Meanwhile food inflation has also decreased to 85.6% in October from 94.9% in Sept, CCPI report for the month of Oct 2022 said. CCPI for all items for the month of Oct 2022 was 243.8 and it recorded a decrease of 0.9 in index points compared to the month of Sept 2022.

Sri Lanka’s HC to India Milinda Moragoda gets Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara
Oct 31 (TN) SL’s High Commissioner to India, Milinda Moragoda has gone for the new fully-hybrid Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, thus ditching fancy imported cars. The Chairman of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, R C Bhargava, handed over the keys to the brand new compact SUV to the High Commissioner at the High Commission of Sri Lanka in New Delhi. Moragoda has claimed to be a Maruti Suzuki fan. He had even introduced the Indian car brand to his country’s market way back in 1986.
