'Undernourishment as well as over-nutrition plaguing some of SL’s schoolchildren'
Feb 10 (Island) Nearly 15.3% of Sri Lanka's schoolchildren are suffering from undernourishment while another 7.3% are suffering from over-nutrition, Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said recently. Speaking at the launch of the Empowered Rice to Children program at the Colombo Ramada, Amaraweera said that though the available statistics regarding child nutrition were at different levels, it seems that there are a number of reasons causing child malnutrition in the country.

Charitha rips into Prez’s policy statement

Businessman shot by man whose family was crippled in drunk driving incident
Feb 10 (Island) A businessman was shot and wounded on Thursday night near the Thattewa Cemetery, Anamaduwa, by a man whose family was crippled by the former, last year, in a drunk driving incident. 44-year old businessman, named Mallawa Kumara, was travelling on a motorcycle. Proposed wind farm in Mannar is a death trap for migratory birds
