Mar 30 (LBO) Sri Lanka's central bank called for better government budgets to avoid money printing, changes in badly run state firms, more private sector involvement in infrastructure to reduce further build-ups in government debt, in it annual report Friday. Sri Lanka' diesel-petrol price gap worsens

Mar 30 (LBO) The gap between petrol and diesel prices in Sri Lanka has widened further overnight with a hike of 7 rupees a litre by state owned Ceylon Petroleum Corporation with the second player Lanka IOC following suit. The retail prices of a litre of 90-Octane petrol is now 104 rupees, 95-Octane petrol 107 rupees. Diesel and Super Diesel are selling for 60 rupees and 65.30 a litre. more..

Sri Lanka gets Japanese 21.9 bn Yen loan to develop link for expressways

Mar 30 (LBO) The Japanese will give 30-year loan to Sri Lanka to build a link highway that will connect the Colombo-Matara to the Colombo-Katunayake expressway a government minister said. Mar 30 (SAMN) According to the Sri Lanka Labour Force Survey in 2006, employment has increased and the unemployment rate has decreased to 6.3 per cent. The unemployment rate was 7.2 per cent for the year 2005, said Department of Census and Statistics Director General Suranjana Vidyarathna. New Companies Act to be taken to effect from 01st April

Mar 31 (GDI) Government will be putting the New Companies Act No 07 of 2007 in full effect from 01st April, 2007 and it will repeal the former Companies Act No. 17 of 1982, Companies (Special Provisions) Law No. 19 of 1974 and Foreign Companies (Special Provisions) Law No. 9 of 1975.
