Nov 4 (DN) For the first time in the SL agriculture history the country is set to export soya bean by the end of next year. Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardane said the country would reach self sufficiency early next year. SL imports around 150,000 metric tonnes of soya bean per year mainly used as animal feed. “This will result in a US$ 500,000 saving for SL.” Currently soya bean is grown in the North Central Province and over 30,000 metric tonnes have already been cultivated.
