MP’s jeep collides with motorcycle while on way to Paada Yatra
Aug 2 (DN) A jeep in which Gampaha district Parliamentarian Prasanna Ranaweera came to Pasyala to participate in the Joint Opposition’s Paada Yatra on July 30 afternoon, collided with a motorcycle injuring the two on the motorcycle. The two injured in the crash were taken in the jeep and admitted to the Wathupitiwala Hospital after which the occupants of the jeep had escaped without reporting the incident to Police. Policy tightening slows 1Q deficit by 2.4%

Sri Lanka world’s first in breast feeding
Aug 2 (DN) Sri Lankan has been placed first in the world in breastfeeding during an international survey conducted in 2016 with the participation of 121 countries. Cuba won second place, Health Services Director General Dr. Palitha Mahipala said. He said the same survey was conducted in 2012 with the participation of 51 countries where SL was again placed first. A/L begins today with 315,605 candidates
Aug 2 (Island) The GCE (A/L) Exam commences today at 2,204 centres countrywide and ends on August 27. Commissioner General of Examinations W.M.N.J. Pushpakumara said 315,605 candidates were sitting the examination this year, 240,991 school candidates and 74,614 private candidates.
