Ankeny residents monkey around in SL
June 29 (DR) When we signed up for a group tour of Sri Lanka, we figured India-light. Sri Lanka, the large island 30 minutes off the southern tip of India, seemed in the brochure to be “like” India without the crowds. When we met inside the Colombo airport lounge, our native tour guide ironically said “If you came expecting India-light you are in for a great surprise.” Religious differences might explain the contrast in cultures as Sri Lanka is 71% Buddhist while India is 85% Hindu.
