Large areas of forest cover lost to fires

Sept 27 (CT) Over 105 acres of forest cover was destroyed due to wild fires that erupted in Ella and Yatiyantota last Sunday. Sources said that at least 100 acres of land in the Ravana-Ella Forest Reserve were scorched in the blaze that erupted on the Sunday and was brought under control in the early hours of yesterday.
