A/L tuition classes banned from 2nd Aug |
July 19 (NR) Department of Examinations says all 2017 Advanced Level tuition classes, lectures and additional A/L related activities to be brought to a halt by midnight on the 2nd of August for a period of one month. Issuing a statement the Commissioner General of Examinations WMNJ Pushpakumara said the ban will be in effect until the 2nd of Sept. Health Minister denies hand in formulating new docs’ union |
July 19 (Island) Minister Rajitha Senaratne denied claims by the GMOA that he was forming a separate doctors’ union. Union was being formed by a group of doctors entirely of their own volition. It was not the first time in the history that such a union was being formed, he said. Veteran Musician Somapala Ratnayake dead |
July 19 (CT) Veteran music director and musician Somapala Ratnayake passed away, at the Colombo National Hospital, early last morning. SLPA to modernize Jaya Container Terminal |
July 19 (LBO) Cabinet nod has been received to modernize the Jaya Container Terminal (JCT) of SL Ports Authority in order to improve the capacity of the terminal. Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe said that this will be phase V of the renovation of the terminal which will allow the terminal to handle larger ships. 160kg of cocaine found in container truck |
