Durban offers faint hope for beleaguered SL
Feb 12 (CT) The odds appear to be stacked against SL in a 2-Test series against South Africa, which starts at Kingsmead on Wednesday, but the tourists can take heart from their previous record in Durban. $ 16 million remainder of $ 70 million on ETI Finance assets sale due in February
Feb 12 (FT) The Central Bank is expecting the remaining $ 16 million of the total $ 70 million on the sale of select assets of ETI Finance Ltd., (ETIF) this month. “Currently, $ 54 million of the total $ 75 million has been received to ETIF, which was primarily utilised to repay 20% of the deposits of the company. EDB mulls export expansion in US market

Fuel prices hiked
Feb 12 (DM) The retail prices of fuel have been increased based on the fuel pricing formula, Finance Ministry said. Accordingly, prices of fuel were increased as follows: Petrol (Octane 92) will be increased by Rs.6 a litre and the revised price is Rs.129, Petrol (Octane 95) will now be sold at Rs.152, after an increase by Rs.5 a litre. Country welcomes only 244K visitors
Feb 12 (CT) Tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka started the New Year on a sluggish note, growing only at 2.2% during January 2019 to 244,239 visitors, from 238,924 a year ago. The official breakdown on the number of tourists arrivals has been delayed and is yet to be released to the public; however, SLTDA issued a press communiqué stating that 244,239 visitors came to the country in January this year. The largest source market for tourists in January was India, followed by China and the UK.

SL expects near record rice output in 2019
