CVDs accounts for 42,376 deaths in SL: WHO

Feb 26 (CT) World Health Organization (WHO) said that 42,376 Sri Lankans had died of cardio vascular diseases (CVDs) annually. In a WHO fact sheet for 2018, provided by the National Authority on Tobacco and Alcohol (NATA), the WHO stated that of those deaths 6,530 (which comprised 15% of the total number) were caused by tobacco use. Feb 26 (EN) More exports are not increasing employment or formalization of jobs in SL, but give higher wages to existing workers, a study by World Bank and ILO said.
