Feb 9 (DM) No special request has been made so far by Prez and PM to receive the anti-COVID-19 vaccination jabs and they will receive it next month when the govt begins vaccinating those above 60 years. Positive rate surges past 7% for the first time: GMOA
Feb 9 (DM) After the detection of 878 COVID-19 positive cases yesterday, the positive cases rate has crossed 7.2% mark for the first time in Sri Lanka, GMOA said. Feb 9 (AD) A Sub-Inspector attached to Monaragala Police Station has fallen victim to COVID-19 virus, says Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana. Health officials say no shortage of ICU beds for COVID-19 patients
Feb 9 (EN) Sri Lanka’s health ministry has denied speculation that there is a shortage of intensive care unit (ICU) beds to treat COVID-19 patients. Deputy Director General of Health Services Dr Hemantha Herath told reporters yesterday that only 27 out of 147 ICU beds dedicated to COVID-19 patients are currently occupied. Out of 11, 443 regular beds reserved for COVID-19 patients at 42 govt hospitals and 37 temporary treatment centres, he said, currently only 6,837 are occupied.
