Saker steps down as SL's fast bowling coach
Feb 19 (CB) David Saker resigned as Sri Lanka's fast bowling coach on Thursday (18) with immediate effect. Saker, who was named as Sri Lanka's pace bowling coach in Dec 2019, cited personal reasons for his decision to step down from the position. Tourist arrivals cross 4,000 mark
Feb 19 (FT) Tourist arrivals post reopening of borders have now crossed the 4,000 mark, with the Govt also planning to soon roll out the much-awaited global tourism campaign. Within just three weeks since airports were opened on 21 January for international travellers and commercial flights, there have been 4,368 tourists, SL Tourism Chairperson Kimarli Fernando said. Forex interventions rise to US$72mn amid credit pick-up in Jan 21
Feb 19 (EN) SL forex market interventions to defend a soft-peg with the US dollar had picked up to US$ 72.25 million in January 2021 from US$ 22.5 million in December as domestic credit started to pick up, official data showed. Feb 19 (AD) The water supply to several urban and municipal council areas in the Colombo District will be suspended for 16 hours tomorrow due to essential maintenance work. Feb 19 (CT) Colombo Chief Magistrate Buddhika Sri Ragala yesterday (18) enlarged on bail veteran cricket commentator Brian Thomas, who had been in remand on a charge of fraud.
