Parliament extends emergency by 78-vote majority

Apr 10 (LD) Parliament passed the state of emergency by a further month today (Apr. 09th). A vote was taken on the motion for the extension, where it received a 78 vote majority. Ninety-three members voted in favour, while the 15 Tamil national Alliance MPs voted against. The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna voted with the government. Anger grows over rising prices
