14-year-old boy tortured

Nov 2 (DM) A 14-year-old boy who was alleged to have been tortured by his stepfather for three days was admitted to the Matara General Hospital, police said.The teenager who is a resident of Palpmulla in Deiyandara had told the police that after his father’s death his mother had been living with the suspect and investigations had revealed that the boy had worked as a helper to his stepfather who was a mason. Sewerage lines collapsing

Nov 2 (DM) The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) said yesterday the sewerage lines in Colombo City had begun to collapse and action was being taken to repair them. S.G.V.D.H. Gunasekera director Engineering Water Supply and Drainage of the CMC said that the lines in the Roxy Garden area had begun to collapse.
