Environment Ministry claims success in banning single use plastics

Nov 14 (EN) SL’s public sector which has become an unbearable burden on the economy, Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa said after bringing a budget proposal to increase the retirement age. Extreme weather: Heavy rains cause havoc, claim 26 lives
Nov 14 (TM) Heavy rain inundated parts of Sri Lanka last week, causing severe flooding and 26 fatalities across the country. According to the DMC, as of yesterday (13), 65,704 families and 230,640 people were affected by the adverse weather conditions. Emirates announces 2 more flights to CMB a week from today
Nov 15 (TM) Emirates announced its operation of two additional flights a week to Colombo from today (15) to support the resurgence of Sri Lanka’s tourism industry as more key source markets relax travel restrictions. 1,413 persons test positive for COVID-19 over the weekend
Nov 15 (FT) COVID-19 detections crossed the 550,000 mark with 1,413 COVID-19 detections over the weekend and the addition of over 1,000 COVID-19 cases following verification. 1,345 COVID-19 cases reported between 29 Oct and 4 Nov were yesterday added to the total after verification.
