Treasuries market sees quotes after 3-month sucess
Nov 5 (EN) Sri Lanka’s bond market saw quotes in several maturities dealers said with some of the shock from a Stage II auction intervention wearing off after strong genuine buyer interest in 3-month bonds lowered auction yields. After a market holiday Wednesday 3-month bills were quoted around 7.85/95 levels. At Tuesday’s auction 3-month auction yield fell to 8.18% from 8.43% with strong demand. Sri Lanka faces looming crude oil crisis

Finance companies, bank fined by anti-money laundering office
Nov 5 (EN) Sri Lanka’s anti-money laundering and terrorism finance office has fined two finance companies and a bank for non-compliances mostly involving lapses in record-keeping required under United Nations sanctions. People’s Merchant Finance, Ideal Finance were fined 500,000 rupees each and Seylan Bank was fined one million rupees. Female body found in travelling bag at Sapugaskanda identified: Police
Nov 5 (AD) The female body found inside a travelling bag which had been abandoned in the Sapugaskanda area has been identified, Sri Lanka Police said. The remains are suspected to be that of a 44-year-old woman who was residing in Maligawatta flats. SSP Nihal Thalduwa said that the body was identified by the victim’s husband and two children. The postmortem examination on the remains is scheduled to be carried out at the Ragama Hospital tomorrow (06), he said.

Economic sentiment wanes: Survey
Nov 6 (FT) Sentiment surrounding the economy deteriorated in October as a mere 8% of respondents say economic conditions are likely to improve in the coming 12 months. This marks a decline from the one in five who said so in the previous month.
