June PMI signals expansion in manufacturing, services says CBSL

Jul 20 (Island) Those close to Prez Ranil Wickremesinghe had threatened first time MPs that Parliament would be dissolved if they do not support the 22nd Amendment, Education Secretary of FSP, Pubudu Jagoda alleged. 22A seeks to amend the Constitution to bring Article 83 in conformity with the amendments made by the 19th Amendment to Articles 30(2) and 62(2). Massive fire on Sri Lanka-bound ship carrying hazardous cargo off Goa
Jul 21 (AD) A massive fire erupted on a container cargo merchant vessel about 102 nautical miles south west of Goa on Friday. The vessel was on way from Gujarat’s Mundra to Colombo. On receiving the information, Indian Coast Guard diverted the ship to proceed to the distressed vessel with maximum speed. Also, a Dornier aircraft took off for aerial assessment. The ship is carrying Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) cargo and explosions have been occurring on front part of the merchant vessel.

BIA second terminal project to begin soon following JICA’s funding renewal
Jul 21 (ST) The second terminal construction of the BIA extension project will begin shortly after the delay of over one year under a concessionary Japanese International Agency (JICA) loan scheme, Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation Nimal Siripala de Silva said.
