Sri Lanka secures fair and favourable deal on $ 12.5 b ISBs
Jul 5 (FT) Most analysts yesterday described that the deal struck on $ 12.5 billion stock of International Sovereign Bonds (ISBs) by the Govt and majority of the creditors was favourable whilst the Finance Ministry said it was fair. “The negotiated Joint Working Framework enables a fair sharing of upside or downside between creditors and Sri Lanka in case of an economic over-performance or under-performance by SL,” Finance Ministry said.

Western Province land prices drop; RIUNIT signals market rebound

SLSRFA set to withhold host rights to Science?
Jul 5 (TM) SL Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA) in an official letter addressed to the DG of Sports Ministry has recommended him to withhold the host rights to Science College for 2024 & 2025 seasons, in the aftermath of the unprecedented referees’ assault incident on 30 June. Three intervening petitions filed against FR seeking to delay presidential poll
Jul 5 (AD) Three petitions for intervention have been filed with regard to the FR petition recently filed by C.D. Lenawa seeking to delay the announcement of the prez election, until the Supreme Court delivers its interpretation on the date of the Presidential poll. State Minister explains why some registered taxpayers are not required to pay tax

Global Environment Facility funds chemical disposal project in Sri Lanka

Four killed, 3 critical as lorry overturns in Badulla

Over 1,400 drug suspects arrested as operation Yukthiya 2nd phase continues
Jul 5 (AD) A total of 1,403 suspects have been arrested within 24 hours during the second phase of the Yukthiya Operation, which commenced yesterday. The detention orders will be secured against 57 among them for further questioning. Among the arrested individuals are 1,340 male suspects and 63 female suspect, according to Sri Lanka Police.
