Doc. Suspended for attempted sexual abuse of pregnant patient |
Sep 24 (Island) Director General of Health Services Dr. Ajith Mendis has suspended a doctor attached to the Sri Jayawardenepura Teaching Hospital, following an investigation into an allegation that he attempted to sexually abuse a pregnant woman. Health sources said that this would be brought to the notice of the Sri Lanka Medical Council for further action. Sep 24 (AI) A detainee was seriously injured and had to be hospitalized as a clash broke out between the Sri Lankan Army (SLA) and detainees being held at a school in Vavuniya in north-eastern Sri Lanka on Tuesday.
